It has also been suggested that I just reload the systems from scratch as this will only take 30 to 35 minutes per unit and we can be up and running again with all our neccessary additions to the systems in place and no problems from your program. I am currently removing it from mutiple units at the same time to try and speed up the process. The removal of your product is so slow as to take up to an hour on each machine. Please note that thanks is sarcastic in nature. Now comes the big issue as it takes forever to remove avg from a single pc. Also noted so far is the systems installed with Panda are running faster now.
It seems to work great for our purposes with no popups so far after a few days.

My management has instructed me to find another free antivirus so I am trying Panda as noted above. After some time and calculation by one of our team members we discovered I spent more than an hour a days just closing these annoying popups. I have also tried the above mentioned fixes without any improvement. I do seem to spend a great deal of time dealing with all kinds of popups including ones that open web browsers without our permission.

I currently manage 125 installations of AVG on 125 Windows XP pc's and was recently asked how much time I consume dealing with all the AVG popups. To the CEO Chairman & President of AVG - you can take your 'legitimate business campaign" pop-ups and shove them where the sun don't shine - My response to your Adware: uninstall AVG, end of your adware ! drops microphone - walks away. Unchecking sytem tray notifications does nothing to stop your annoying pop-ups, and you think shoving annoying promotional ads down the throats of customers is the answer ? wow, pretty insulting. I TOO am a computer tech and from this day forward I WILL NO LONGER RECOMMEND AVG to my clients ! Ever!!!. I've used AVG for years, here is DECEMBER 2015 = a full 4 months after this post was created and still you have not resolved this serious issue. You have turned your Company Anti-adware into a self-defeating 'AggraVatinG' annoyance. these new pop-ups this year are a really bad move.

Have to thank "Charles Boyce" comments to hack the AVG software folder to do what AVG brainless customer service refused to do and "actually give a helpful answer" !!! To AVG - CEO's and Marketing staff. I'll be really surprised if my post doesn't get deleted however. Select to Enable AVG Protection - takes 20 seconds or so to fully activate. Note: If you have already paid for the Tuneup addon then keep this folder If you accidentally delete anything else go to the recycle bin and restore it. Delete the following three folders: Awacs, Banners, Tuneupĭo not delete anything else you see inside the AVG201x folder. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and Navigate to:Ĭ:\Program Files\AVG\AVG201x\. Select to Temporarily Disable AVG ProtectionĪgree the default timeout - usually 10 minutes?Ģ. Right click the AVG icon in the taskbar (near the clock) I found an answer through some easy googling that seems to have worked.there are three folders in the AVG folder in Program Files that you need to delete, but you have to disable avg first. It's because of this devotion that I took the time to write this, I would like to keep using AVG into the future, but the path it is heading is not one that I can follow for much longer. I use AVG - and as a computer technician I sell it to business clients.
If you don't change your business model you will find over the coming months a huge abandon rate on your software now that it no longer has any advantages over other software. AVG got sucessful because it's software was simple, sucessful and left the user alone. But putting messages up on the screen without user prompting for it makes this software no better then any of the other junk out there. You provide a free product, advertising within the GUI that is acceptable. By doing this your defeating the point of your own software.

People install antivirus software so they are not harassed by unwanted messages, popups and annoyances. Thank you.ĪVG as a company need to realise that this business model is a terrible idea. However submit your idea to AVG via link removed. Since it is the business campaign it cannot be stopped. Unfortunately there is no option to turn off it.
